Special Hazards Work Elements
The fire protection engineering technology program "Special Hazards Suppression Systems"
replaced "Special Hazards Systems Layout" in January 2000. If you received a Conditional
Decision Letter for the "Systems Layout" program, please call 888-476-4238, ext. 108, 107,
or 106 for a "Suppression Systems" program detail manual and a listing of your work elements
credited to the new program.
NFPA Standards Used for Fire Protection Exams
If you are taking any of NICET's exams in Fire Protection Engineering Technology, you should
check which version of the NFPA codes we will be using for the exam questions as you must
bring copies of the standards to your test. If you have a more recent version than the
version we are using, you may use your more current version and indicate which version you
are using on your challenge paper. To check, go to www.nicet.org and click on "Program
Detail Manuals." Printed at the end of the list of Fire Protection manuals, you will find
Standard Editions Referenced
in Fire Protection Exams. This list was updated May 2003.
Has It Been Five Years Since You Tested?
Just a reminder: if you tested years ago and you are not yet certified, please check the
date on your last score report. Remember that NICET will delete your test history on the
fifth anniversary of your last test date if you are not certified in the technical area in
which you tested.
